The Tibetan blackbird is a large, high-altitude thrush measuring 23–28cm. Males are brownish-black with darker heads and breasts and dull orange-yellow bills; females are browner below with faint throat streaking. It breeds on rocky slopes and alpine meadows at 3,200–4,800m, descending somewhat in winter. This ground-foraging omnivore eats earthworms, molluscs, insects, small lizards, fruit and seeds, often searching soft exposed soil beside melting snow. (Wikipedia, general species account)
