The tundra bean goose breeds in northern Siberia, is migratory, and winters further south in Asia. It measures 68–90cm long with a wingspan of 140–174cm and weighs 1.7–4kg. The bill is black at the base and tip with an orange band across the middle, and the legs and feet are bright orange (Wikipedia, general species account).
It and the taiga bean goose are recognised as separate species by the American Ornithological Society and the International Ornithologists' Union, but are treated as a single species, the bean goose, by other authorities. The two diverged about 2.5 million years ago and made secondary contact about 60,000 years ago, with extensive gene flow since (Wikipedia, general species account).
