The white-bellied green pigeon, also known as Siebold's green pigeon or the Japanese green pigeon, is a medium-sized, compactly built pigeon 33–36cm long, found in Japan, Taiwan, eastern and southern China, and northern South-east Asia. The tail is short and dark green with blackish sides, the bill light bluish with a grey tip, and the feet red to violet. The female lays two eggs (Wikipedia, general species account).
In Japan it lives in lowland forest and in mountain forest up to 1,400m. It is one of the few green pigeons that migrates: birds in Hokkaido are wholly migratory and present only from May to September, while populations elsewhere in Japan make poorly understood movements. It lives in pairs or groups of up to ten (Wikipedia, general species account).
