The yellow-browed warbler is a small leaf warbler, 9.5–11cm long and 4–9g, distinctly smaller than a chiffchaff but slightly larger than Pallas's leaf warbler. Like many leaf warblers it has overall greenish upperparts and white underparts. It breeds in the east Palearctic, in summer at altitudes up to 2,440m (Wikipedia, general species account).
It is strongly migratory and winters mainly in tropical South and South-east Asia, with small numbers in western Europe; its winter habitat is lowland broadleaf or coniferous forest, from West Bengal and Assam in north-eastern India east through southern China to Taiwan. It is not shy but its arboreal lifestyle makes it hard to observe. The song is a high-pitched medley of whistles and the call is a piercing, often disyllabic 'tseeweest' (Wikipedia, general species account).
